MODERN MAN VS PRIMITIVE MAN
Mankind is fundamentally the same physically as we were 40,000 years ago, when we were hunter gatherers. The hunter gatherer lifestyle is actually the one we were “designed” for (see my post Secrets of the Paleolithic Diet for a partial explanation).
Let’s see how the modern style stacks up against the hunter gatherer lifestyle.
| Modern | Hunter Gatherer | |
| Diet | Animal Protein, Roots, Grains, Beans and Legumes, Processed Foods | Animal Protein, Plants growing above the ground, Nuts, Fruit |
| Exercise | None | Constant Exercise from foraging and hunting |
| Stress | Constant societal stress from which it’s impossible to flee, leading to accumulation of stress hormones | Occasional stress from physical danger sources, which is alleviated by fleeing |
| Lifestyle Drugs | Coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, speed, heroin, crack, ecstasy, marijuana | None |
| Nutritional Value of Fruits, Vegetables and Meats | Compromised by pesticides, soil depletion, genetic engineering, irradiation, food processing, storage, and antibiotics | Pristine |
Basically, the modern lifestyle is about as far from the hunter gatherer lifestyle as it could be, which is probably why mankind has so many lifestyle diseases (see my post What is Anti-Aging Therapy, Anyway?).
If you wanted to get closer to the hunter gatherer lifestyle, that might be a healthier choice.
