ANTI-AGING vs PHYSICAL FITNESS
While the purpose of athletic strength training is maximum physical ability, the goals of anti-aging strength training are increased muscle mass (to increase metabolic rate), increased strength (to avoid accidents and increase quality of life), and alleviation of depression and stress.
It is also important to stretch the muscle groups that you are trying to strengthen as well, to avoid injury, decrease muscle soreness, and increase flexibility.
It should go beyond saying that before beginning any exercise program, it might be wise to consult your doctor before beginning.
An excellent book for anti-aging exercises is Look Great at any Age, which is selling for the princely sum of 1 cent on Amazon as of this writing.
