Before I get too far into the subject of this post, I should point out that the point of exercise, at least as discussed on this site, is not to get six pack abs so you can show off, but rather to avoid aging prematurely (see my post Exercise, Longevity and Anti-Aging for more details). I’ll get off my soapbox now.
CARDIOVASCULAR EXERCISE EQUIPMENT
If you have the space and financial wherewithal to put together a home gym, probably the first thing you need to be concerned with is some sort of device to help you get your cardiovascular exercise.
The gold standard of aerobics machines is the StairMaster 7000 PT Stepmill. A somewhat less fancy version is the StairMaster 4200PT Stepper
. If you set up one of the machines in front of your television, it’s almost like being at the gym! Here’s an idea to make exercise more fun: rent movies from Netflix and watch them only when you exercise!
Or, if you’re fortunate enough to have a backyard, a trampoline such as the Needak Soft Bounce Non-Folding Rebounder is a fun way to get your aerobic exercise.
